Durable in His Hands

Have you ever had Google randomly suggest a word of the day? Well, the other day, this happened to me, and the word was very fitting to the point that I knew it was God. The word that popped up on my phone was “durability.” When I saw the word, I automatically heard God speaking to me about the spiritual warfare I was experiencing. Sometimes, we get frustrated with the current pace of God, our circumstances, and the attacks that are causing us to contemplate throwing in the towel. And to be transparent with you, this was the warfare I was facing, and this word spoke volumes to me. I use terms like this randomly throughout the day but have never really taken the time to look up its full context. But, thanks to my trusted source, Google, I was intrigued to know what this word meant in its entirety. So, according to Google, durability is “the ability to withstand wear, pressure, or damage.” I needed this word to affirm that I am pliable, flexible, robust, and resilient with the power of God. I am an overcomer; despite feeling like a punching bag, for God has His hands on me. God reminded me that I was being cultivated, molded, and resilient for battle.
For oftentimes, we are placed under pressure with life and want to give up, not realizing that the pressure is making us pliable. We are being strengthened and refined to withstand even more. God reminded me that just like the clay that is on the potter’s wheel, we, too, have to be molded to become more usable. The potter takes the clay through an extensive process to remove impurities and bubbles. At the same time, the potter adds water to soften and maneuver it to be what He envisioned. Being on this wheel may seem purposeless and agonizing, but the results are unimaginable, just as the scripture says. Our thoughts are not like His thoughts, and His ways are not like ours…paraphrasing, of course! Ultimate, the potter knows what’s best for our lives; He knows the right amount of pressure that needs to be applied, the suitable instruments to use, and the pace that we need to be spun. We are being molded to become durable for this fight that we cannot even see in the flesh, and the best way to withstand the pressure, pulling, and beating is never to allow yourself to not be in the hands of the potter.
One of the many benefits of being a clay pot, for example, is that it can be porous and adaptable if in the right hands; however, once placed in the wrong hands, it can be easily broken or misused. Regardless of how you feel or the changes surrounding you, it is imperative that you remain in the hands of the Lord because the attacks from the enemy are non-stop. Remember, the more we allow God to build those spiritual muscles within us, the more we will likely overcome the giants in our lives. So, be encouraged today, and reassure yourself that you are in the right hands, you got this!
