There is nothing more powerful than a man who steps into his God-given role as the spiritual leader of his home. When a man chooses to follow Jesus wholeheartedly, he becomes the first line of defense against the enemyโs fiery darts. His presence brings a sense of divine security to the household, a covering that no material provision can replace.
As a wife, Iโve lived on both sides of this reality. I know what it feels like to carry the spiritual weight of the home alone, and I also know the shift that happens when a man rises up and follows the Lord. So to the men reading this: whatever you do in life, follow Jesus. Your family is counting on you, even when it doesnโt show. And to the women: keep praying. Keep seeking God first, even when things donโt look the way you hoped. Your prayers are powerful, and God is faithful.

The Spiritual Battle Is Real
In todayโs world, we can easily forget that the spiritual realm is more real than what we see with our eyes. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12, KJV). The wars we face in the natural are simply reflections of whatโs already happening in the spirit. When a man neglects his spiritual role, the enemy looks for the next point of entryโthe woman.
As we see this clearly in the story of Adam and Eve. While Adam tended to the garden, the serpent approached Eve. She was vulnerable, and the enemy seized the opportunity. The result? Disobedience, sin, and a fallen world. The same strategy is still in play today. The enemy aims to divide and conquer, especially in marriages, because marriage reflects God’s design for dominion, unity, and multiplication.
Godโs Divine Order Brings Covering
Godโs structure is not random, itโs divine: man, then woman, then children. When a man aligns himself with God, his household is covered. He learns to pray, to intercede, and to spiritually lead. He becomes the priest of his home, consecrating his life so his family can thrive under Godโs protection. As Joshua boldly declared, โAs for me and my house, we will serve the Lordโ (Joshua 24:15, KJV).
Before my husband took his walk with the Lord seriously, there was a spiritual gap in our home. I prayed. I sought God. But I often felt like I was carrying the burden alone. Like Nehemiah rebuilding the wall, I saw the breaches in our home where the enemy slipped inโthrough fear, miscommunication, selfishness, and doubt. I trusted God, but the weight was heavy. I was spiritually exhausted, longing for my husband to stand beside me in faith. But I was persistent to continue to press through in spite of the weight I felt I was carrying.
A Shift in Focus Changed Everything
In prayer, instead of asking God to change my husband and started declaring who he was in Christ. I prophesied over him. I stood firm in my position as wife and spiritual intercessor. And something beautiful happened, God moved him into position as the priest of our home. He stood in the gaps of our home by seeking God for himself and on behalf of our home. We began to pray together, study the Word, and grow individually in our faith. And as we grew closer to God, we grew closer to each other. He allowed God to use him to repair the breaches of our wall, not just emotionally or physically, but spiritually. This kind of security can only be obtained through the presence of God and can not be manufactured. It comes from being aligned with Godโs divine order. It was important for us to understand our divine roles and responsibilities and allow God to help us each day function at our full potentials. We are still work in progress, but with his grace and mercy, we are victorious and fortified through Christ Jesus.
Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Today, my husbandโs walk with God is evident not just in his words but in how he lives. He leads with humility, prays with authority, and stands as a spiritual covering for our family. I thank God for every trial and every tear because I can now see how it was all worth it. Our marriage is stronger, our home is fortified, and most importantly, God be glorified.
If youโre in a season of waiting or wrestling, donโt lose hope. Keep praying. Keep speaking life. And never underestimate what God can do when one person, man or woman, decides to trust Him completely.
