What fear doesn’t teach you

Hello everyone!!! I survived the first night of returning to school to pursue my Masters of Leadership. This was a giant leap of faith for me and a step out of my comfort zone because I was terrified about the notion of going back to school. Many of us want to do something in life that is out of our comfort zone and not in our scope of what we considered normal but because of fear, anxiety and the unknown we kill our dreams and ambitions. Let me tell y’all I was terrified to go back to school especially with how busy my life is and now I wanted to add another thing on my plate. You know when you’re at a thanksgiving and everthing on the menu looks delicious so you decided to add everything you see on your plate, and you you’re upset because you have gained 10 lbs. ANNNDDD now you have to work twice as had to take that weight off. Surprisingly, that was how I felt with this crazy thought of going back to school. Since I was so indecisive and wanted to take self out of the picture, I consulted with the chief author and creator of my life and I want to share with you all what the Lord revealed to me in hopes that I will encourage you all to pursue your dreams and ambitions.

I was reminded during my time of indecisiveness and fear that he did not create fear for our lives, it is a hindrance and a spirit we should not entertain. According to the definition of fear, it presents itself in time when something or someone put us in danger, posed a threat or pain and based on this definition God would never create fear in our lives. In the book of 2 Timothy 1:7, “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind”. Fear is one of those things that will stop us from being what God has called us to be and to fulfill the purpose he has for our live. It creates an illusion of the things God has not intended for us and a falsehood of what reality would be. When we walk in the spirit of fear we tend to keep ourselves in bondage because we don’t know the outcomes. Many times we act like the children of Israel because the scriptures tells us that God had a plan for them but instead of trusting God they were stubborn, murmured and didn’t believe in his promise. Likewise, he tells us his plans for us but instead of waiting on him we decide to do our own thing and then things doesn’t work out how we would like and then we blame God. He doesn’t give us directions so we murmur and hinder ourselves, but God constantly reminds us just to trust him and his judgement because he GOT THIS! He also reminded us that he knew us before we were even thought of or accidentally appear (just kidding)….none of us were ever accidents.

If he is for us who or what can be against us or stop us. The only thing or person stopping us from our blessings is ourselves when we allow fear and flesh to take the lead. Really, I want you to take a second and think about this question I’m about to ask. If God created every living creature on this earth and caused everything to operate systematically and simultaneously, why would he let us fail….why not trust him?

We have to combat fear with faith. Faith is the substance of things hope and the evidence of things not seen. To have faith is to trust God’s abilities of guiding us to all truth. Your dreams and desires were planted in you from the beginning, so you have to water and nurture your seed so in due time you’ll be able to harvest what you have planted. Additionally, God will make it possible so you’ll have room for your gift. I know this one sounds unreal when you have family, a full-time job and other factors of life, but this is the prospection the enemy want you to see. You have to look beyond the obstacles to see the end goal. Motivation is the key, self motivation, monetary or motivation from other will help you along your journey.

When it is all said and done you will see that it wasn’t that bad after all. Let me tell you, last night I was sitting in class and I had an epiphany. If I had allowed fear take control of the situation I wouldn’t be in this class after years of not being in school. I wouldn’t have met the amazing people I did last night. And lastly, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to further my education and I actually enjoyed every bit of it. My fears and anxiety lied to me because my reality surpassed my expectations. I know that over the next several months things might be a challenge for me and my family but I will leave it to God until then. But for now, I’ll worry about today because tomorrow isn’t promise to anyone.

Stay focused. Yours Truly,

  1. Well said. The bible says….there’s no fear in love; perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. We therefore has to be perfected in God’s love to be overcomers.
