God, If I knew what it would take to get to your Plan for my Life…

When God reveals his perfect plan and destiny for our lives, he miss out the bits and pieces we tend to look for from the beginning. We have a starting point and an end, but the  in between not so much. It makes you wonder whether or not you would hang in there to see what’s to come or quit before the journey even start. Our pathway to God’s promise may or may not be a pleasant one, and if we already know this how would we respond to God? The path we journey on sometimes may not be the easiest, timely for “us,” or enjoyable, but it is the path that we have to take towards our destiny.

In the book of Ecclesiastes, it tells us that, “the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all” (9:11, NIV).

Also, James 1: 2-8, reminds us that, “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

Additionally, in the Bible there are many examples of how our pathway is far from straight, but rather curvy and narrows with plenty of bums along the way. So here are some examples:

God told Abraham that he would be the father of many nations. He did not tell him that his children would be imprisoned for many years, divided, enslaved, be in constant wars,  and wander in a wilderness for 40 years. Maybe…just maybe if Abraham knew of these many obstacles his children would have to endure..prehaps he would have reconsidered following God’s instruction to leave his father’s house. I know some of you would have stopped God in his tracks before he had a chance to utter those words of blessings.

 

Joshua is another great example. He promises Joshua that he will be with him when it was time to conquer the promise land. God’s only requested for Joshua was that he had to be strong, courageous and listen to his words. With his courage, strength, and obedience, Joshua was able to be used by God. Additionally, with his obedience he was able to lead the Children of Israel to the land that God had promised them for many generations. One thing with this story of Joshua, he had to fight his way through, he went up against every nation that occupied the land that God had promised them and without hesitate God even caused the sun and moon to stand still in order for them to win a battle. 

Another example is our brother David. The one God called out of the field to be King of Israel. God told the prophet Nathan to tell David, “this is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men on earth. And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also give you rest from all your enemies”. (I Samuel 7: 8-11, NIV)

And much so…God did what he said he was going to do but in order for David’s name to be great he had to go through some stuff. He started out in the fields; not being recognized by his father; killed a bear, lion, and a giant…yes GIANT! He had to run from Saul; commit adultery, and deal with a whole lot of family drama. But with all that, God still kept his word and made his name great. 

And now let’s fast forward to the New Testament…we have the one and only Jesus Christ. Jesus had to die on the cross for us. He became sin, resurrected from the dead to save us and to go back to the Father. Some of us would have looked the other way knowing that these people that you’re suppose to SACRIFICE and die for are the same ones that would betray and reject you.

Many of us would have given up in any of these examples. BUT, God is the master builder and engineer of the world ‘s master blueprint and time. Our situations are not new to him eventhough they are new to us. God has given us a promise minus the blueprint, and that is when  and why we need to depend on him. We are faced with the things we see in the flesh and the weight of this life, we have to choose what we want to believe in without wavering. Are we going to walk by faith and not by sight? Are we willing to sit in the wilderness and steer into the promise land without murmuring? Are you willing to be courageous in the face of your enemies? Are we willing to sacrifice and chance losing it all just for God’s glory? These are the many questions we have to ask ourselves when we are given the end in the beginning. 

When God shows us his promise, he does not reveal the path we will take to get to it for the very reason that he gives us free will to choose what path we will take to get to our destination. God reveals his plans to us in hopes that we will have faith enough not to doubt or be double-minded about the Words he has spoken to us, over us, and before us. But, what do we do? We continue to question God with the very words of, “GOD, ARE YOU SURE??????????” emphasizing the many question marks. We repeatedly make this mistake because of fear of uncertainty. Then we start questioning ourselves whether we are truly hearding from God or it is just a figure of our imagination. God knew that we would and will question his revelations to us, and although he does not lie, we have to choose. See, God will hide certain information from you along the way to build your faith, character and humble you. And with doing so, he gets the ultimate Glory!!

You will reach your purpose…how you get there is all up to God, you and the lesson you need to learn along the way. Regardless of the how and when you get to your destiny…only God knows but just know you will get there. Hang in there and be strong…hold on to your faith because it will all work in your favor!!
