Drown out the Noise

It seems as though we are always surrounded by all types of noises, ranging from what we hear in the media, people around us, and even in our minds. These things cause us to go through emotional and mental exhaustion in just a single day, with peace being a mere idea that we dream about as life toss us too and forth. The uproars in our personal lives, politics, disasters, this pandemic, and family dramas are all part of the devices the enemy uses to enslave us in his atmosphere of deceptions. We are constantly bombarded with noise that disrupts our peace and let us lose sight of God.

God has been dealing with me on this particular subject for some time now because sometimes I find it very hard to navigate my way to the sovereignty of God with the noise around me. I have to keep reminding myself that as long as I can find solitude in Him, I will be okay. Finding peace from all the different principalities and powers of this world can only be found under God’s authority. Sometimes I will say it may feel like I’m on this lonely road by myself, but God reminded me that he is there with me. And all it takes is for me to I stop and listen to his still voice and sit in him for a little while. So, I am here to affirm to you that whatever you are going through you are not alone, for God is with you.

In a time such as this, the world tells us this, that, and a lot of unnecessary information, which causes us to drift away from Him. And at times, we end up wondering, while being busy without a purpose, being pulled in many different directions until we end up losing sight of him. But God tells us that we ought to press towards Him who is the mark of the high calling (Philippians 3:14).

He reminded us in Psalm 46:10 that we ought to be still and know that he is God. Regardless of the many directions, this world tries to pull us, God is telling us to be still in him, anchor our faith in him even if the doctor’s report says otherwise… he won’t let us down. Our relationships won’t defeat us…and our kids won’t drown us as long as we anchor ourselves to him.

This is one lesson we can learn from the Children of Israel before conquering Jericho. They had to be quiet for a moment in order for God to work on their behalf and hand Jericho over to them. For God commanded them to be quiet for six days and on the seventh day to make a great shout that tore Jericho’s walls down. God is telling us to allow him to lead and direct our path and watch him tear down those disrupters in our lives. Drown the noise of this world out and listening for the voice of God. We, too, like the Children of Isreal, can triumph over the walls of life if you can learn to trust in God and abide in him. Lean into him, read and meditate on his words and you will not drift far from him. Be bless, and don’t let the troubles of this world be the noise that distracts you from him. It may not make sense now, but just know that God got you through it all.
