In Ezekiel 37, many people focus on the valley of dry bones or the words in the vision that God commanded Ezekiel to speak. But not to get me wrong; these are important to the paradox of the story, but let me proposed to you to consider the moment in Ezekiel’s vision before God spoke to him. In his vision, God told him that the bones he see can be restored and live again. Ezekiel had to stand in this valley and see the things that were once living and wait on God to speak to him on what to do. It could have been years, months, days, minutes or seconds…but he had to experience a moment in time that he had to wait. And just like Ezekiel, I am sure you can relate. You may have had to wait in a place like this that was a place of displacement and uncomfortableness. These dry bones represent the defeated state of Israel. They were rejected, ruined, destroyed, cast down, and exiled from the rest of the world. But God had bigger plans for them regardless of how the world perceived them. He wanted to show Ezekiel that what men have considered dead or destroyed, he sees as an opportunity for restoration.
I’m sure you can think of a time in your life when you were surrounded by a season of dryness and everything in that season seem dead or stagnant. Or even now you may be in that season, so it is imperative that you take heed to this word. You may even feel like God has left you alone in this place in your life, but I want to tell you not to be discouraged because God is in the midst.
Take a moment and think about those dry valleys you have experience and/or going through right now. What does it look like? What were/are the dry bones in your life? Do you believe that if God restored those things in your past, why can’t he do it again in this season?
Sometimes in the waiting process, our eyes see one thing, but God sees something else, and he is asking us, can the dry bones in our life live again? He is not asking us to believe in those things we can see but have hope and faith in him that he can do the impossible. While waiting, we can experience doubt and uncertainty, but God is telling us to trust in him and not in those things we can only see. God says, “I AM the GOD of impossibilities”!!
Are you willing to trust God in the moment of waiting for him to speak to you? At that moment, your faith is tested to see whether it is in what you can see or him. You will have to choose between whether you want to believe in what makes sense or those things that don’t make sense at the moment. If you choose to believe in God just like Ezekiel when he said, “Lord, you knowst”, your world will never be the same again. His words and power will be in you to command the dry bones in your life to live again and be connected in the right places. I want to encourage you to activate your faith in God. Be honest with God and tell him that, “Lord, all I see is ruins, but you know best, help me to see beyond my circumstances”! Your marriage, relationships, finances, children, career, business deals, the house, car, or anything that feels stagnant…he can restore. But you first have to believe in him and declare victory in your praises! Speak words that proclaim that this is not the end. This is not it, snatched your faith back from the enemy and pour it back into God and watch him put the pieces back together again.
Just know that we all have been there at some point in our lives when we feel like we are in a valley surrounded by dead things. Those things that were once alive, but have now taken on the appearance of death and God said that’s not the case. As you read this, be encourage this is not the end, and God works everything for your good. Don’t be discouraged or disappointed because God is telling you that there is something greater in-store with your name on it. Righy now, I declare that your faith will be renewed and restored so you can speak life into your valley of dry bones. For God will make ALL things new in his time. Hang in there and be strengthen because he will see you through.
