Being cast out into the deep is not the most exciting thing you want to experience at any point in your life. If anything else, it is rather frightening. Your worries tend to drive you into the deep end but do not allow it to weigh you under when the tides and storms of life are raging. For God did not give us a spirit of fear but of peace and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). So, the next time you find yourself in a deep or a stormy situation, remind yourself that you are well equipped to handle and overcome what is before you.
As long as you anchor your life in the Lord and acknowledge that he is the great “I AM,” there is no storm that can equate to the magnitude of his power of deliverance.
Take note of the resources God has provided you with in the deep because you are still afloat. You have a boat, a anchor, and a garment. That boat signifies your faith, the anchor is the word of the Lord, and the garment is your praise.
The Boat
It represents your faith and your trust in the Lord. If your boat can stay anchored in him, your chances are more significant to drift back to safety after the storm. Without faith, it is impossible to please God, to abide in his will, and not to give up. The Bible tells us that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrew 11:1, KJV). Faith is what will keep you going and will push you towards the mark of the high calling in spite of the storm you are facing. It was by faith that Peter was able to walk on water and the woman with the issue of blood to be healed. See, with faith, the impossible will become possible; the intangible becomes tangible and the captive was set free.
The Anchor
The word of the Lord is the anchor to your faith. For “in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1, KJV). The word became flesh and dwell amongst men…it is the firm foundation of humanity. From Genesis to Revelation, God spoke to prophets to deliver his people from their enemies and can do the same for you. Trust in his words, rely on his words, and allow him to speak to you during your storm. He will direct your path and even quiet the storm with just a simple command, but you do have to believe his words. His words will keep your ground and unmoveable because it is true and the sense of praise will encapsulate during your storm.
Garment of Praise
Your garment of praise allows you to be cover by the blood of the lamb.
Lay in your boat for the Lord will shield you with a garment of praise until the storm past. Cover yourself with the cloak of praise, be still and unmoveable under your praise. Your praise will shield you from the elements of the storm. Your garment of praise is gratitude, peace, gladness, and your thankfulness. Your joy and peace is not in your surroundings but it is in God’s promise that he will never leave you or forsake you. Do not let the storm of life unravel you from under your praise.
Well Equipped
All in all, the boat is a solid structure that keeps you from sinking and a barrier from your surroundings. The anchor holds your position and posture. It also stops your faith from drifting in the wrong direction. Your praise will protect you from the elements of the storm.
So, the next time you find yourself in a storm remember your tools on hand. God said that he will carrying you through the process, bbut trust in him even through it doesn’t make sense right now. The sun will shine, the storm will pass, and your destiny is beyond the horizon, just abide in him and be still in the moment.
