Who do you say He is?

Who do you say He is? This is the question that Jesus asked his disciples in Matthew 16:13, that had them baffled except for Simon Peter. Peter’s response unlocked another level of God that the carnal mind could not comprehend. And God wants us to examine ourselves and ask ourselves this very question:

Who is He to you in this very season?

He can be all things to you depending on our needs and wants, but in spite of all of this, can you really identify who He really is and tap into the Holy Spirit and unlock such great knowledge that He wants to reveal to you.

If you think about the words we use, sometimes those exact words put limits on him or box him but He is beyond what we can imagine, comprehend, or even put into words.

I have concluded that every word that I can think of still downplayed who God truly is to me. Often, we tend to place God in an imaginary box with terms such as outstanding, good, marvelous, and amazing, and not knowing the extent to what our lips are saying. God does not have a limit, and we often keep him in a box, depending on how we feel or what He has done for us…But He cannot be contained. When I think of God for who he is and not so much about what he has done…its hard to find words to describe him. For at times, He is indescribable and I can do is worship Him!!

The closest way I can put into terms who God is in His fullness is by his own words like from Exodus 3:14 (KJV), “God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM…” God is everything and the great I AM. He is limit-less!! And not until my encounter with the Holy Spirit, my whole perspective shifted as to my comprehension of what He meant by “I am” and “Alpha and Omega “.

Here’s another perspective…God created this world and everything within; he is omnipresent. He wants you to form your own understanding and personal view of Him for yourself because your relationship depends on it.

Unbox God for yourself and who He is in all aspect. For me, I can not describe God with anything else other than his own words because He is that to me. When I look back over my life and i think about all the things he has brought me through, kept me from, his love for me, and I can go on and on, all I can say is he is the great I AM! God saved me from death, provided, and has loved me with all of my faults…there is nothing in my life that is not credited to him. He is beyond incredible and magnificent, but He is indescribable.

Now, with saying all of that, back to my very first question…who do you say He is? Can you in the same matter as Simon Peter, unboxed the Lord, and have the Holy Spirit revealed Himself to you in the utmost way. For it wasn’t the fact that Simon Peter said “you are the Christ, the Son of the living God,” but it was the Holy Spirit that revealed this mystery to him in a way that was beyond lip service (Matthew 16:16, KJV). God wants more than lip service from His people. Jesus wants your full service from inside out to move in a way that God himself can feel. Many times, we put God in a box with our words, but when we unboxed the Holy Spirit, then the words we used to describe Christ are beyond our words. Even though words allow us to articulate and communicate to others, the Holy Spirit not only enables us to do that but it allows those words pierce through the flesh and to the soul.

It is time for us to search ourselves as to who we say Christ is.

Can Christ look at you and say the very words he spoke to Simon Peter in Matthew 16:17-19? That is the question for today!
